And I thought I was a small fish in a big pond in terms of college. Well, I guess it's more accurate to call it a small Trojan in a large Bruin den, but anyway, I guess I was wrong.
I was at Kirksey's today for the Old ASB/New ASB transition luncheon and found out Ryan, our new ASB VP has an interest in USC. Both his parents are alumni, but he's actually considering USC as his #1 choice as of right now. He'll have no problem getting in, heck his GPA is higher than mine I think, but I guess it's just a matter of whether or not he changes his mind by next year. It would be nice to know that there's another Viking turned Trojan out there.
I read some very encouraging stuff about New North today on the net (taken from one of those real-life college guides):
“Dorm life is great. I lived in the brand new dorms that opened this past spring, Parkside International Residential College; it is a suite-type dorm. I highly recommend living either there or in the ever-popular New/North. New/North is very social and the rooms are fairly big. Try to avoid Century and Webb; they’re the old, old apartment style. Birkrant, Pardee, and Marks have very small rooms.”
“New/North are great dorms; they’re very social. I recommend dorms over apartment or suite-style units. If you can’t get dorm-style, suite is the next best. Don’t live in the off-campus apartment; you’ll feel segregated. Marks/Pardee Tower also has good dorms, although they’re not as much fun as New/North. Honors dorms are not nicer than regular dorms.”
“Freshman dorms are good. I lived in on-campus apartments, Parkside to be precise. Parkside now has a brand new international student dorm, and it’s beautiful! If you can get in, I’d say go there. Also New/North residential colleges are both newer and spacious. They’re where you’ll meet lots of people. I don’t think any of the dorms are too bad.”
“Dorms are the best, and the most fun I ever had. Get into New or North; they are the best. They are actually the same building, just opposite sides. Do whatever you need to get in, they are awesome!”
“The dorms are the best way to go for your first year on campus because you meet tons of people. Avoid Trojan Hall, Marks Hall, and Parkside. New[/North] Residence Hall is a pretty cool place to live; it has a party atmosphere and good-looking people [
]. Pardee Tower is also pretty cool.”
Amazing. At 13 days of school left, I feel so productive. I actually was able to complete my Calc project and my Econ project in 3 days! COME TO MY GRADUATION IN 13 DAYS! ALAMEDA COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS AT 6:30!
That's all for now!
